Alfred Russel Wallace was a naturalist, explorer, geographer, anthropologist, and biologist, famously known for jointly publishing his ideas on the theory of evolution through natural selection alongside Charles Darwin. His focus on and explorations within the Malay Archipelago are celebrated to this day.
Rainforest Fringe pays homage to this great explorer by commissioning a glass installation designed by self-taught Malaysian artist Fuan Wong, who specializes in stained glass and fused glass. Wong owns the famous Art & Garden in Penang, a beautifully landscaped garden that is the result of years of gardening and collection. Here, he is inspired by nature and marries his superb collection of weird and wonderful plants with his installations and sculptures.
